Why Vets Recommend Kibble? Answer to this question is complex and multi dimensional. Only individual vets can give you their own reasons as to why he/she would recommend kibble diet for your dog. We, at Happy Paws Nutrition, can only give you a food for thought and your consideration. You, as a pet parent will have to make your own decision regarding your pet nutrition.

Vet training. Generally speaking vets are trained in pet nutrition based on the information provided by kibble manufacturers.

Science.  Many studies which support kibble feeding are sponsored by kibble manufacturers.

Lack of safe options. Vets are reluctant to recommend alternatives as they may not have sufficient knowledge of kibble alternatives. Such as different dog food brands, raw feeding, etc.

Commissions. Let’s be completely honest. Veterinary practice is a business. Goal of a private business is to make profit. Vets are making money from selling kibble to you.

Visit frequency. We know that kibble feeding causes numerous health conditions in dogs. Check out list of conditions associated with eating kibble. That will transfer to more frequent vet visits. More visits to vet means more profits for the vet practice.

Not all vets recommend kibble. As you can see from our references there are numerous vets from around the world recommend pet parents to avoid feeding kibble.
